On Saturday 14th May, the Eurovision Song Contest was celebrated in Düsseldorf. It consists of an annual broadcast song festival with contestants from a lot of countries whose television stations are members of the European Broadcasting Union. The festival has been broadcast every year since 1956 and it is one of the oldest television contests in the world. Its audience has been estimated between 100 and 600 million viewers. The event is broadcast even in countries outside of Europe.
Forty-three countries participated in Eurovision 2011. Each country gave a 1 to 8, 10 and 12 points to their 10 favourite songs, chosen by popular vote and jury in the final and the semi-finals.
